General Description: Fidelity Investments is one of the largest online brokerage and mutual fund firms with branch offices in major cities across the United States, but we're talking online trading here, so that may not matter to you. Let's just say they have plenty of resources to develop good trading platforms or just to answer your questions.
Account Minimums: $2,500
Stock Commissions: $8.00 - $19.95 (based on assets or trade frequency)
Option Commissions: $8.00 - $19.95 + $0.75 per contract.
Options in IRAs: Fidelity allows approved clients to write covered calls and engage in long calls and long puts in IRAs. Fidelity recently started allowing customers to trade option spreads in IRA accounts, but there are restrictions, and you will have to pick up the phone and talk to a broker to leg out of a spread. You can trade spreads on equity options, but not index options in your IRA.
